News April 2017

Just got an Anet A8 [prusa I3] 3d plastic filament printer.

Came as a kit from Gearbest.

Assembled quickly (about 5-6 hours work).

Troubleshooting:
1. x-axis went wrong way, reattached
2. temperature very slow to heat, forgot to set power supply to 110
3. gaps in printing – still ongoing

In the process of adding Octopi to control the printer – loaded to Raspberry Pi, not yet connected.

Shared with PiBox Meeting March 2017

I brought some devices with me to the PiBox meeting for March (Tuesday meeting).

I had a Raspberry Pi, and a Pi Zero still in the box.
I showed my Pine A64 board, which is similar to Raspberry Pi, with more ports.
I also showed my Onion Omega board, and hooked it up to a stand-alone power-supply plugged into the wall (it was rebooting on laptop USB). I then hooked up a USB camera and showed how that worked with the web-browser built-in option.
To get it all to work, I had to use my cell phone hotspot to get updates for the Omega board, as I could not get it to connect to the internet with the library’s wifi.
I also showed how you can run a linux terminal line command shell in the web browser – and after a little searching, found it was an application called shell-in-a-box
